Darren Lebeuf is a children’s author and illustrator based in Edmonton, Alberta. He is the creator of three published picture books, including My City Speaks, recipient of the 2022 American Library Association Schneider Family Book Award. His earlier books, My Forest is Green and My Ocean is Blue, were featured in the McDonald’s Happy Meal Readers program.

Darren studied art and design at MacEwan University and began his career as an exhibit designer at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. His background in design and photography continues to shape his approach to storytelling, with a focus on expressive environments and character-driven narratives.

In addition to his published work, Darren leads writing and illustration residencies in elementary schools, collaborating with students to create original books from concept to completion. He is currently developing new picture book projects that reflect his evolving interest in exploratory, process-based storytelling.
