Happy Birthday Maddy

Today is my daughter’s 4th birthday (happy birthday Maddy!), and every year draw her a picture that in some way reflects who she was at that age. By the time she’s 18 she’ll have pages that tell a story of her life.

This is a very typical scene in our life - Maddy singing some random song (that she makes up as she goes along), with some of her favourite toys laying around (usually a lot more than this), while her little brother either watches in confusion or tries to join in. As a rare treat we might see the neighbourhood cat walk by the window, or as an even rarer treat we might see a raccoon.

This our home, and this is exactly the kind of moment I never want to forget.
